A horrifying crime has been reported in Igueze village, Ovia Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria, where a 56-year-old farmer, Henry Oyagbomwan, was brutally murdered by five of his workers.
According to police reports, the incident occurred shortly after Mr. Oyagbomwan finalized a pineapple sale valued at ₦900,000 (about GHS 6,000). The suspects, believed to have acted out of greed, allegedly killed their employer, stole the money, and buried his body in a shallow grave on the farm.
The Edo State Police Command has identified the suspects as five farm workers—two hailing from Akwa Ibom State and three from northern Nigeria. All five are currently at large, triggering a widespread manhunt by local authorities.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that efforts are underway in collaboration with security agencies across state lines to track down and arrest the fugitives. A police spokesperson reaffirmed the Command's commitment to bringing those responsible to justice.
The incident has left the local community in shock and has sparked renewed concerns about safety and trust between employers and workers in the agricultural sector.
