A Ghanaian woman, Ante Ama Mansah, has shared a deeply emotional story about how her husband refused to care for their child solely because she was born a girl.
Speaking in an interview on Lawson Afisem, hosted by MFK, Ante Ama recounted that her husband had warned her during pregnancy that he would not accept responsibility if the child turned out to be female. Tragically, he followed through on that threat—abandoning both mother and daughter immediately after the birth.
While he never offered a clear explanation for his discriminatory behavior, Ante Ama spoke about the devastating emotional and financial impact his actions had on her. She noted that the birth of their daughter not only led to her husband neglecting them but also caused the eventual collapse of their marriage.
Her story has since sparked broader discussions around gender-based discrimination and the urgent need for stronger support systems for single mothers facing similar challenges in society.
