A wave of public outrage has erupted in Ghana following a shocking confession from controversial religious figure Sofo Obotan. In a recently surfaced video, Obotan admitted to deceiving his followers with disturbing rituals, including making some church members drink what he called “Funu Ho Nsuo”—a term loosely translated as water used to bathe a corpse—under the pretense of offering them spiritual protection.
The video, reviewed by GhPage News, captures Obotan acknowledging that he operated fraudulently as a spiritual leader. He confessed to manipulating his congregation through unorthodox and spiritually questionable practices, all in pursuit of personal wealth and self-protection.
“I was not a genuine man of God,” Obotan stated in the recording. “I stepped on many toes and engaged in questionable spiritual acts to gain riches. To protect myself from spiritual consequences, I made some members drink ‘Funu Ho Nsuo,’ pretending it would protect them spiritually.”
