An unfortunate incident has reportedly occurred at Big Six International School in Meduma, located in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region, where two students sitting for the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were allegedly locked in a room by the school’s headmaster.

The incident resulted in the students missing the first examination paper, Mathematics.

Sources indicate that the headmaster took this action due to the students’ failure to clear outstanding school fees prior to the exams.

The school management has not yet issued a response regarding the allegations.

This development comes amidst the nationwide BECE examinations, which commenced on June 11, 2025, and are scheduled to conclude on June 18, 2025. A total of 603,328 candidates are participating in the 2025 BECE across Ghana.
