Army Chief Reaffirms Commitment to National Security During Northern Regional Tour

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, has reaffirmed the Ghana Armed Forces’ (GAF) unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation from all forms of threats, both internal and external.

This assurance came during his working visit to the Northern Command Headquarters in Tamale, as part of his ongoing nationwide familiarisation and operational tour. The visit marks the 10th region the Army Chief has toured since assuming office.

Speaking to the media, Major General Gbetanu emphasized the importance of firsthand assessment of the operational, administrative, and logistical conditions of army units across the country.

“Since assuming office, I have embarked on a nationwide tour of all army units. This visit to the Northern Command is my tenth, aimed at understanding the on-ground realities and enhancing coordination at all levels,” he stated.

He noted that the tour also provides an opportunity to engage directly with frontline troops, boost their morale, and commend their dedication to duty.

"The conditions under which our troops operate are demanding, yet they continue to demonstrate discipline and professionalism. It is my duty to support and motivate them to remain committed to the defense of our motherland," he added.

Major General Gbetanu underscored that the Ghana Armed Forces remain fully prepared to address any emerging threats.

“Our troops are strategically deployed across the country and are ready to respond swiftly to any situation that poses a risk to national security,” he affirmed.

The Army Chief’s nationwide tour is expected to continue, with the aim of strengthening operational efficiency and reinforcing the Armed Forces' readiness across all regions.
