Veteran media personality and musician Okyeame Quophi has publicly denied persistent rumors that he has ever physically abused his wife, celebrated broadcaster Stacy Amoateng.

In a heartfelt interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the former Akyeame music duo member stated unequivocally:

“Never ever in my life have I hit my wife.”

Quophi explained that he had chosen to remain silent about the allegations for years, hoping the falsehoods would die down on their own. However, the continuous spread of the rumors has finally prompted him to speak out.

“There’s a worrying trend where people recklessly peddle lies about others,” he said. “But if you are wise, you don’t rush to react. You stay true to yourself, your values, and your principles.”

He emphasized his strong moral stance, saying he would never be involved in theft, murder, or domestic abuse.

“At the end of the day, I ask myself: is it true? If it’s not, I carry on guilt-free.”

Addressing Misconceptions Around Health Issues

Quophi also addressed what he believes may be the root of the rumors. He revealed that his wife suffers from an eye condition that occasionally leads to visible infections—a condition that their son has also inherited. Unfortunately, these symptoms have been wrongly interpreted by some as signs of physical abuse.

“People jump to conclusions without understanding the facts,” he said, expressing frustration at the harmful assumptions.

Despite the emotional burden of these allegations, Quophi says he chooses to respond with calm and introspection rather than outrage or confrontation.

Key Takeaways

  • Firm denial: Okyeame Quophi insists he has never abused his wife.
  • Reason for silence: He initially chose not to engage with the rumors, trusting that truth would prevail.
  • Cause of confusion: Stacy’s medical eye condition may have been misread by outsiders as signs of abuse.
  • Moral code: Quophi says his values do not permit any form of violence or wrongdoing.

As prominent figures in Ghana's media industry, both Quophi and Stacy continue to maintain a united front, frequently supporting each other’s careers and public initiatives.
