A commercial motorbike rider, identified only as Emmanuel, narrowly escaped death after a vicious machete attack on Thursday night, June 20, 2025, in Boinso, a community located in Ghana’s Western North Region. The assault occurred between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. while Emmanuel was on his way home from work.
Eyewitnesses and police reports indicate that the incident took place on a rough, poorly maintained stretch of road known for forcing riders to slow down. It was there that Emmanuel was ambushed by an unidentified assailant armed with a machete. He sustained severe cuts to his head and neck and was left bleeding profusely.
His life was saved by the quick intervention of a passing motorcyclist, who arrived just in time to scare off the attacker.
Despite his critical injuries, Emmanuel managed to identify his attacker as a fellow motorbike rider known locally as Abu, alias “Subzero.” He also recalled that the assailant wore a distinctive Barcelona football jersey—an observation that helped police confirm Abu’s identity and arrest him shortly after.
Emmanuel is currently receiving medical treatment at Samartex Hospital in Samreboi, near Enchi. The suspect, now in custody at the Enchi Municipal Police Station, is being investigated, though no formal charges beyond the assault have yet been filed.
Local residents have expressed growing concerns that the attacker may be linked to a suspected criminal syndicate involved in the trafficking of human body parts. These fears are fueled by a series of mysterious disappearances in the area, many of which reportedly involved victims who hired rides from certain motorbike operators believed to be connected to the group.
Police have acknowledged the community’s concerns and are actively investigating both the motive behind the attack and any potential broader criminal connections.
