Rwandan giants APR FC have joined the chase for Ghana Premier League top scorer Stephen Amankona, currently playing for Berekum Chelsea. The move places APR FC in competition with other suitors, including Denmark's Randers FC and Egypt’s Ismaily SC.
As reported by Footy-Africa, APR FC tabled an initial offer of €60,000 over the weekend, which Berekum Chelsea promptly rejected. The Ghanaian club has set an asking price of €87,000, and sources indicate APR FC is preparing an improved bid of €85,000 to secure the prolific striker.
Amankona, 25, has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 18 goals in 29 matches. Since his return to Berekum Chelsea, he has tallied 37 goals in 58 games, topping the league’s scoring charts for two straight seasons.
His contract with Berekum Chelsea runs until January 2026. Amankona also had a stint with Asante Kotoko, where he scored 7 goals in 15 appearances. During his first spell with Berekum Chelsea (2016–2020), he netted 21 times in 57 games.
Currently valued at €175,000 on Transfermarkt, Amankona is reportedly eager for a move abroad to further his career after dominating in Ghana.
