The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has approved the promotion of 13 senior officers of the Ghana Police Service in acknowledgment of their exceptional dedication, professionalism, and courageous service to the country.

The promotions were officially announced in a statement released on December 24 and were marked by a special decoration ceremony held the same day at the National Police Headquarters in Accra. The event aligns with the Police Administration’s ongoing policy of rewarding commitment, sacrifice, and outstanding performance within the Service.

Speaking at the ceremony, IGP Yohuno stated that the promoted officers were selected based on their resilience, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to duty. He emphasized that these attributes are vital to effective policing and sustaining public confidence. According to him, the promotions also serve as a strategic effort to strengthen discipline, integrity, and professionalism throughout the Ghana Police Service.

The IGP encouraged all officers to remain dedicated to their responsibilities and to consistently uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in the service of the nation. He further reaffirmed the Police Administration’s commitment to recognising and rewarding excellence in the line of duty.

Senior officers and officials of the Police Administration were present at the ceremony, where they congratulated the beneficiaries and urged other personnel to emulate their exemplary conduct and service.

In a related development, the Police Administration in September promoted 11 officers for their outstanding role in dismantling a notorious robbery syndicate responsible for multiple rural bank attacks. The successful operation followed a six-month intelligence-driven investigation that resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects and was hailed as a significant achievement in the fight against violent crime. As part of those promotions, three Chief Inspectors were elevated to Assistant Superintendents of Police, three Inspectors to Chief Inspectors, two Sergeants to Inspectors, one Corporal to Sergeant, and three Constables to Lance Corporals.

The Police Administration has reiterated its determination to continue motivating personnel through merit-based recognition and promotions for distinguished service.
