A man posing as a medical doctor has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in Kasoa Crispo City for fraud and impersonation.
Identified as Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah, the suspect was taken into custody on Thursday, June 6, 2025, following an intelligence-led investigation. Police reports indicate that Assifuah pretended to be a doctor at the United Brain Hospital in Mallam, using this false identity to deceive people online with promises of overseas job placements and travel opportunities.
Authorities also revealed that he engaged in fraudulent romantic relationships with multiple women online, offering to help them relocate to Europe as part of his scam.
During his arrest, police recovered several medical items and documents believed to have been used in the deception, including:
- 2 stethoscopes
- 3 intravenous (IV) drips
- 5 syringes
- 2 sample bottles
- 1 roll of medical plaster
- 6 bottles of vaccines
- 1 Ghanaian passport
- GH¢8,500.00 in cash
The Ghana Police Service is urging the public to be cautious of individuals offering travel or job assistance without proper credentials. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify and support victims affected by the scam.
