Police Implement Heightened Security Measures for 2025 Odwira Festival

The Eastern Regional Police Command has announced comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the 2025 Odwira Festival in Akropong, assuring the public of a safe and peaceful celebration.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Ebenezer Tetteh of the Public Affairs Unit, the Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festival.

“We wish to reassure the general public that adequate security shall be provided before, during, and after the festival,” the statement read.

The police outlined several regulations for the durbar grounds, which serve as the climax of the festivities on Friday, October 24, 2025. Attendees are strictly prohibited from carrying any weapons, and the firing of live ammunition is banned within the municipality.

Only individuals officially authorized to fire muskets will be permitted to do so and must be properly tagged and easily identifiable at all times.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, motorbikes will not be allowed beyond the Old Assembly Junction. Designated parking areas have been set up at Shoe Fabrique, the Municipal Assembly, Dachie Junior School, Christ Church Park, and the Old Court Premises.

Additionally, motorists have been encouraged to use alternative routes, including Ofankor–Pokuase–Nsawam and Dodowa–Somanya–Adukrom, to ease congestion along the Ayi-Mensah–Aburi–Mamfe stretch.

The Command assured residents and visitors that police visibility will be high throughout the celebration.

“We shall maintain a strong presence both day and night to ensure everyone enjoys the festival in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility,” the statement added.
