Anambra Woman in Viral Video Breaks Silence, Reveals Alleged Abuse and Marital Struggles

Anambra, Nigeria – The woman featured in a controversial viral video involving a married man has come forward to share her side of the story, offering context to the events behind the footage that has sparked widespread public debate.

The video, which has circulated extensively on social media, shows a married woman and a man believed to be a titled chief from Uga, Aguata Local Government Area in Anambra State, in a compromising situation. According to sources, the woman hails from Mbise in Imo State and is married to a man from Uga, where she also runs a provision shop in the Orie Uga market.

How the Video Leaked

According to a reliable source, the woman’s husband allegedly obtained the video from their daughter. The woman reportedly recorded and then deleted the clip, unaware that it had been automatically saved in a hidden file on her phone. While the woman was away visiting another daughter who had just given birth, her other daughter found the phone, repaired it, and began using it. While browsing through the device, she came across the explicit video and forwarded it to her father.

The man then reportedly distributed the video across family WhatsApp groups and community platforms, leading to its rapid spread.

The Woman’s Testimony

In a new interview, the woman accused her ex-husband of long-standing abuse and emotional torment during their marriage.

“Since I got married to my ex-husband, I never had peace in that home. It was constant beating, bullying, and humiliation,” she stated.
“My children, siblings—even my daughter who sent the video to her father—are all witnesses to the suffering I endured. He would throw me out of the house for days. Whether I went to my father’s or a friend’s house, he would follow and beat me there.”

She explained that the man seen in the video had been a source of support during one of the lowest points in her life.

“One day, after my husband beat me into unconsciousness, this man took me to the hospital and cared for me. He’s been my joy and comfort—something I never experienced in my marriage.”

On the Video Discovery

The woman expressed regret over the incident, claiming she had deleted the video after recording it. She was unaware it remained in a hidden file on her phone. She also voiced her shock and disappointment that her daughter did not confront her directly but instead sent the clip to her father.

“I never imagined my own daughter would do that to me,” she said. “She never asked me anything or tried to understand.”

On Her Current Relationship

Speaking about her current partner, she said:

“People are judging me, but since I got married, has my husband ever accused me of cheating? Since we separated, hasn’t he moved on with other women? This man has shown me genuine love and care—something I was deprived of for years.”

Public Reaction and Wider Implications

The video has sparked intense public discourse both online and offline, especially in Anambra communities. While some sympathize with the woman’s alleged experiences of domestic abuse, others have criticized her for infidelity.

The case has also prompted renewed calls for awareness around gender-based violence, digital privacy, and the mental health impacts of public shaming.

Ken Ofori-Atta Files Legal Action Against Special Prosecutor Over 'Wanted Person' Label

Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has taken legal action against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), seeking an injunction to prevent the agency from continuing to label him as a “wanted person” or “fugitive from justice.” This legal move comes after Ofori-Atta's image and personal details were publicly displayed on the OSP's official social media pages, despite earlier assurances made in a letter dated February 18, 2025. In a motion filed by his legal team, Ofori-Atta argues that the OSP's actions violate the principles of administrative justice, specifically the right to a fair process and the protection of his personal dignity. Additionally, Ofori-Atta seeks an interlocutory injunction to stop the OSP from issuing any further press releases or public statements that ...
