A Nigerian man has sparked online conversation after publicly destroying his GTBank ATM card in response to the controversial arrest of social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

The incident comes amid allegations that VDM was arrested shortly after visiting a branch of GTBank. In protest, several social media users have expressed outrage, with some reportedly closing their accounts or damaging their ATM cards.

In a viral video, the unidentified man can be seen cutting his GTBank ATM card to pieces while voicing his dissatisfaction, claiming he felt “cheated” by the institution’s alleged involvement.

The video has generated mixed reactions online:

  • @Johniejohnie74: “So now I should resign from GTBank because EFCC arrested VDM there? Please your advice.”
  • @Ene🇧🇪: “Guys, my father works at GTBank. If they shut it down now, how do you expect him to feed us?”
  • @____harlarho12: “My neighbor works at GTBank! I’ve been giving him side-eyes since yesterday.”
  • @God’s_own_plumbing_venture: “I’ve been blasting loud music all day, waiting for my GTBank neighbor to complain. That’s when I’ll start.”

The protest video continues to circulate across social media platforms as netizens debate the ethics and implications of targeting the bank.
