A 19-year-old Nigerian student, identified as Destiny, has been reportedly beaten to death in Ghana’s Volta Region following a dispute over mismanaged business funds.
According to multiple sources, Destiny relocated to Ghana to pursue higher education with the assistance of a close acquaintance he referred to as his “street brother.” This individual, along with others, arranged his accommodation and later introduced him to a business venture.
Tensions escalated when Destiny was accused of mishandling or diverting funds related to the venture. Unable to account for the missing money, he was confronted at his residence by three individuals, including the friend who had facilitated his move to Ghana. The confrontation turned violent.
Witnesses say Destiny was brutally beaten by the group. The assault continued until he became unresponsive. Upon realizing the severity of his condition, the attackers allegedly fled the scene, leaving his lifeless body behind.
A source familiar with the incident stated:
“Destiny went to Ghana to further his education. His friend and others helped him settle in and later introduced him to a business. When they suspected him of diverting funds, they went to his apartment and beat him. The attack was so severe that he died on the spot.”
The police were reportedly alerted days later and discovered Destiny's body at the apartment. As of now, no suspects have been arrested, though authorities are said to be investigating the matter.
Friends and family of the deceased are calling on Ghanaian law enforcement to ensure that justice is served.
