President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to preserving the independence of Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions, making it clear that he will not interfere in their investigations or influence the outcomes of any cases.
Speaking at a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, June 3, President Mahama underscored his administration’s respect for the rule of law and the autonomy of prosecutorial bodies.
“I have consistently assured the public—as well as my Attorney General and Minister for Justice—that I will not interfere in their work,” he said. “If anti-corruption agencies undertake investigations, I will not attempt to influence or suppress any case, including those involving officials from the previous administration, many of whom are currently under investigation.”
His remarks reinforce his administration’s stance on transparency and accountability, and serve to strengthen public confidence in Ghana’s justice system and anti-corruption efforts.
