The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has issued a strong response to the recent arrest of the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako—widely known as Chairman Wontumi. Kodua accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of political intimidation and vowed to challenge them through legal means.
Addressing the media, Kodua criticized the arrest as politically motivated, questioning the justification behind it. He challenged the NDC to take legal action if they believe Chairman Wontumi committed any wrongdoing.
“If the NDC thinks Chairman Wontumi broke the law, they should take the matter to court. But they won’t win. We have some of the best legal minds in this country, and we’ll prove it,” he stated confidently.
Kodua reaffirmed the NPP’s faith in the rule of law and Ghana’s judicial system, adding that the party is fully prepared to defend its members against what it sees as political harassment.
Chairman Wontumi’s arrest has intensified tensions between the two major political parties, sparking heated public debate. While the full details of the incident remain unclear, the NPP has made it clear that any future acts of intimidation will be met with a firm legal response.
