The Wa Circuit Court has sentenced 19-year-old Adams Hamidu, also known by the alias “Gyida,” to 20 years in prison with hard labour for his involvement in a robbery case.
The conviction, which was secured by the Upper West Regional Police Command, followed a successful investigation and prosecution. The court delivered its judgment on June 5, 2025.
According to court records, the incident occurred in February 2025. Hamidu, along with an unidentified masked accomplice, robbed a victim of several valuables. These included a blue Honda motorbike valued at GH¢20,000, a Tecno mobile phone worth GH¢1,300, and cash amounting to GH¢10,800.
Acting on intelligence, police apprehended Hamidu on June 1, 2025, in Domowa, located in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.
In an official statement, the Upper West Regional Police Command described the successful prosecution as a testament to its "unwavering commitment to protecting the community and upholding the rule of law." The Command also reaffirmed its dedication to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the region.
