The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), in partnership with the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has announced the extension of operational hours at two key regional airports—Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport. The new operating schedules will take effect on June 1, 2025.
This strategic initiative is designed to improve accessibility, enhance travel convenience for passengers, and accommodate increasing air traffic at these regional hubs. The extended hours are expected to encourage higher flight frequencies and bolster regional air travel.
Under the revised schedule:
- Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi will now operate until 11:00 p.m., extended from its previous closing time of 8:00 p.m.
- Tamale International Airport will remain open until 10:00 p.m., a four-hour extension from its former 6:00 p.m. closure.
In a joint statement, the GCAA and GACL confirmed that a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to inform all airlines of the changes. Domestic carriers have been advised to adjust their flight schedules and consider increasing service frequencies to align with the new hours.
Passengers and the general public are encouraged to take note of these changes and plan their travel accordingly.
This development is part of broader national efforts to enhance domestic aviation infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and improve regional mobility across Ghana.
