The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced plans to implement 24-hour operations at several of its offices across the country starting in 2026.
According to a statement issued on September 17, 2025, the Authority revealed that all regional offices—except those in the Oti, Savannah, and North East regions—will shift to round-the-clock services. Additionally, selected offices in the Greater Accra Region will also adopt the 24-hour schedule.
“This initiative is part of the government's broader agenda to establish a 24-hour economy,” the DVLA noted in the release.
The Authority emphasized that the decision is aimed at improving public service delivery. “We believe extended operating hours will significantly enhance efficiency in vehicle registration and driver licensing processes,” it added.
Currently, only the Adentan DVLA office in Accra runs a 24-hour service. The upcoming expansion is expected to reduce congestion and wait times, offering more flexibility and convenience to clients nationwide.
The DVLA has called for public support to ensure the smooth rollout of the initiative: “We encourage the cooperation of the general public as we work to implement this plan successfully.”
