Following the official launch of the iPhone 17 on September 19, 2025—just days after its announcement on September 9 and pre-orders beginning on September 12—many tech enthusiasts rushed to get their hands on the latest Apple device. However, not everyone could afford the upgrade.

In a now-viral video, the man is seen applying orange paint to the back of his iPhone 16, transforming it in an effort to imitate the look of the iPhone 17. While some have resorted to buying phone cases that resemble the latest model, this individual took a more hands-on approach to “belong” to the circle of new iPhone users.

Online Reactions: Admiration or Amusement?

The video sparked a flurry of mixed reactions online. Some users found the man’s determination amusing, while others questioned the practicality of the transformation—particularly the unchanged camera layout, which remains a clear giveaway of the phone’s actual model.

Not the First Incident

This isn’t the first time someone has been spotted

attempting to mimic ownership of the iPhone 17. In a previous incident, an okada rider was seen holding what appeared to be a white version of the iPhone 17 Pro. Many viewers speculated that it was either a fake device or another modified older model made to look like the latest release.
