American singer David Anthony Burke, professionally known as d4vd, has cancelled the remaining dates of his U.S. and European tours as authorities continue to investigate the death of a missing teenage girl whose body was discovered earlier this month.
According to Ticketmaster, there are currently no upcoming concerts listed for the artist in the United States, and his scheduled October tour in Europe was officially cancelled on Sunday.
D4vd, who rose to fame on TikTok and is known for his emotional, genre-blending music combining elements of indie, R&B, and rock, has amassed a large and dedicated following over the past few years.
The investigation involves the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was reported missing last year. Her decomposed body was found on September 8 in the front trunk of a Tesla impounded at a tow yard in Hollywood, California, after complaints about a strong odor coming from the vehicle. U.S. media outlets have reported that the car was registered to the singer, although police have not confirmed this detail.
Authorities officially identified the remains as Rivas’s on Wednesday. She was from Lake Elsinore, a city outside of Los Angeles, and was last seen in April 2024, according to a missing person flyer reported by CBS News.
“She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found,” stated the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
As part of the investigation, Los Angeles Police Department officers searched a residence in Hollywood Hills on Thursday, where Burke had reportedly been staying. No official statement has been made regarding Burke's direct connection to Rivas or the circumstances surrounding her death.
The Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed sources, reported that investigators are working to trace Rivas’s final known movements and determine whether there was any link between her and Burke. Police have confirmed that the singer is cooperating fully with the investigation.
Burke, 20, had performed in Chicago just two days prior to the discovery of Rivas’s body, as part of his "Withered" tour, which promoted his debut album.
His upcoming shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco have now been cancelled, along with around a dozen European performances that were set to begin in Norway. However, concerts scheduled for Australia in November still appear available for purchase.
Despite the controversy, the media attention surrounding the case has led to renewed interest in the artist’s music. His 2022 breakout single "Romantic Homicide" recently surged to 29th on Spotify’s global chart of the top 50 most streamed songs.
As the investigation continues, fans and the public await further updates on the case and the singer’s potential involvement.
