Flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has initiated an Anti-Election Rigging Response Squad to safeguard the integrity of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
According to Agyapong’s campaign team, the squad has been formed in response to alleged attempts to manipulate the election in favor of a particular candidate. The team claims that prophetic insights have indicated Agyapong would win a fair contest, but only if strict measures are implemented to prevent electoral malpractice.
Joojo Rocky Obeng, Director of Elections for the Kennedy Agyapong Campaign, revealed that the Anti-Rigging Response Squad will operate across all 276 constituencies in the country.
“Our leader, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, has sent a strong and clear message to all stakeholders that no one should dare rig this election. This response team has been set up to enforce his directive and ensure that the primaries are conducted in a free and fair manner,” Obeng stated.
He further emphasized the team’s confidence in their candidate’s popularity among the grassroots, asserting, “If this election is transparent, Kennedy Agyapong will win. We are not leaving anything to chance; we are committed to protecting the sanctity of the electoral process.”
The NPP is scheduled to elect its next flagbearer on January 31, 2026, ahead of the 2028 general elections. Five aspirants are currently in the running:
- Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia – Former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate
- Kennedy Ohene Agyapong – MP for Assin Central
- Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum – Former Minister of Education
- Dr. Bryan Acheampong – Former Minister of Agriculture
- Kwabena Agyapong – Former General Secretary of the NPP
The establishment of the Anti-Rigging Task Force marks a significant move by the Agyapong campaign, reflecting growing tensions and high stakes within the NPP’s internal race.
