Tragic Outcome as Man Dies After Attempting to Lift Four Bags of Cement in Dare

What began as a lighthearted dare among friends ended in tragedy when a young man, identified simply as Gbenga, lost his life after attempting to lift four 50kg bags of cement — a total of 200kg — during a bet.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 21, 2025. Gbenga and his friends were reportedly engaging in a friendly challenge, wagering their mobile phones on who could lift the most weight. Motivated by peer pressure and a desire to impress, Gbenga stepped forward to take on the daunting load.

A viral video captured the moment Gbenga managed to hoist the bags. However, the victory was short-lived. He collapsed almost immediately, unable to withstand the strain. Reports indicate that his spine and nervous system suffered critical damage, leaving him paralyzed and unable to speak coherently.

Failed Rescue Attempts

Despite immediate attempts by his friends to revive him — including pouring water on him and trying to lift him — Gbenga remained unresponsive. After several days in a deteriorating condition, he tragically passed away by Wednesday, September 25.

His death has left his family, friends, and the local community in deep mourning.

A Cautionary Tale

Gbenga’s untimely passing has ignited discussions on the dangers of engaging in reckless physical challenges for social validation or online attention. Health experts and social commentators alike are urging young people to prioritize safety and well-being over fleeting moments of bravado.

"Life is greater than a bet," one user commented online, highlighting the senseless loss of a young life full of potential.

Gbenga was not just another internet headline. He was a son, a friend, and a young man with dreams — all cut short by a moment of misjudgment.
