Veteran Ghanaian gospel artist Piesie Esther has offered heartfelt advice to emerging gospel musicians, emphasizing the importance of resilience and a strong commitment to God as key ingredients for lasting success in the music industry.
In a recent interview, the “Mo” hitmaker expressed concern over the lack of mental fortitude and spiritual depth among many of today’s gospel artists. She underscored these attributes as critical for both longevity and impact in gospel music.
“In this industry, you need to be tough and hold on to God tightly,” she said. “When you follow God's will, He takes care of your needs. But if you don’t harden yourself, you won’t survive.”
With more than two decades of experience in the gospel music scene, Piesie Esther reflected on her own journey, which has included intense criticism and personal challenges. Through it all, her faith and sense of purpose have served as her anchor.
“I have encountered a lot of difficult situations, but God has brought us this far,” she shared. “Sometimes, people make you feel like you don’t belong. But when you know your purpose and stay focused, nothing can derail you.”
She encouraged upcoming gospel musicians to remain prayerful, purpose-driven, and spiritually grounded. According to her, talent alone is not enough to sustain a career in gospel music—spiritual strength and perseverance are equally vital.
“Stay focused and seek God's guidance. Eventually, your efforts will be rewarded,” she concluded.
