Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the party’s values, emphasizing that true governance is far more than the mere construction of physical structures. Kufuor underscored that the significance of buildings and offices diminishes if the leaders and members of the party do not foster goodwill and unity through their actions.
The former president made these remarks at the commissioning of the new NPP constituency office in Bantama on Friday, September 19, 2025. The office, which was constructed by the area’s Member of Parliament, Francis Asenso-Boakye, is part of the party's continued efforts to strengthen its infrastructure.
Kufuor stated, “While the new building is impressive, it is ultimately meaningless if the intentions and actions within are not genuine. For governance to succeed, unity and reconciliation must take precedence.” He further emphasized the importance of forgiveness and open dialogue within the party to maintain cohesion and forward momentum.
His message resonated with the need for party members to focus on unity, urging them to engage in constructive conversations and efforts to heal divisions. "What is the purpose of a party if not to govern with the heart and mind of the people? Building a solid foundation of unity is crucial for achieving our common goals."
The former president’s address comes at a critical time as the NPP prepares for future elections, reinforcing the need for internal harmony to ensure the success of the party’s governance.
