Controversial content creator Izzy Ogbeide has sparked widespread debate after a video surfaced online in which she claimed that children are neither blessings nor gifts from God.

In the viral clip, the mother of three described children as “an expensive subscription”, emphasizing that they come with immense responsibility rather than divine favor.

Children as Responsibility, Not Blessings

In the video, Ogbeide argued that although society often calls children blessings, raising them requires significant financial, emotional, and personal investment — commitments many parents underestimate.

She further stated that children are a product of their parents’ actions, not supernatural gifts.

Mixed Reactions from the Public

Her comments drew strong reactions across social media. While many accused her of being insensitive and disrespectful toward religious beliefs, others agreed that she was highlighting the realistic challenges of raising children.

Ogbeide Details the Cost of Parenting

Ogbeide went on to outline several expenses involved in raising children, including extracurricular activities such as swimming lessons and football training, alongside daily living costs.

She questioned the belief that children are divine gifts, arguing that if that were true, parents would automatically have the means to provide for them.

In her words:

“Children are not blessings, and they are not from God. Children are from you, not God. They are not gifts. Children are an expensive subscription you can’t return or cancel. Children come from your hard work, not from God. The blessing of the Lord adds no sorrow—children bring responsibility, stress, and bills. Some people can’t even feed their children. If children were truly from God, He would first bless the parents with resources before giving them kids.”

A video of her statement was also shared on Instagram.
