Hon. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has urged Ghanaians to exercise caution and restraint when evaluating the performance of election administrators, emphasizing that not every mistake should be interpreted as incompetence or grounds for dismissal.

In an interview on Metro TV, monitored by *MyNewsGh*, the Member of Parliament referenced the long tenure of former Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan. Despite his extensive experience, the 2012 election still saw significant errors, yet he was not labelled incompetent, the MP pointed out.

“Even after years of experience, what happened in 2012 was significant, but we did not dismiss him as incompetent,” Hon. Baffour Awuah said.

The MP highlighted the reforms implemented after the 2012 elections, including the provision of individual pink sheets for all parties. He also noted that effective election monitoring requires active responsibility from political parties.

He referred to the Supreme Court proceedings, where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could not produce its complete compilation, stressing that this showed they had not done their own homework.

Hon. Baffour Awuah warned against the growing trend where personal grievances or isolated mistakes lead to calls for the removal of public officials.

“Today, someone may be criticized for their height, and tomorrow, someone will demand their removal over a comment they disagree with,” he said.

He concluded by emphasizing that a healthy democracy depends on strengthening institutions, not on removing officeholders based on political convenience or public pressure.
