Stop Bandit Attacks in Kano, Barau Urges Security Agencies

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau has called on security agencies to intensify operations in Kano State following recent bandit attacks in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas.

This appeal comes amid increasing pressure on security forces across Northern Nigeria, where communities in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and Niger States have experienced repeated assaults from insurgents and armed groups.

In recent weeks, the military has escalated operations under President Bola Tinubu’s National Security Emergency Plan, which mandates coordinated air and ground missions to eliminate terrorists hiding in forest enclaves.

Commenting on the reported Saturday night attack in Yankamaye Village, Tsanyawa LGA, Barau noted that the incursions by criminal elements—many believed to be fleeing military operations in neighboring states—must be stopped immediately.

In a statement released in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President condemned the alleged attack, emphasizing the importance of protecting lives and property.

“This incursion must stop forthwith. The security of our people’s lives and properties is paramount. No stone will be left unturned in addressing this threat,” he said.

Barau further urged security agencies to sustain the momentum of the ongoing nationwide security emergency, ensuring that bandits do not find safe havens in border communities.
