Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, has recounted a harrowing incident in which individuals he had sheltered allegedly turned against his family.
In a video shared by Equipping the Persecuted on X (formerly Twitter), Rev. Dachomo said he had taken in stranded Muslims, provided them with food from his own funds, and allowed them to use the church for prayers. Despite his generosity, he claims the individuals committed violent acts against his family.
“I bought food with my own money to feed them in my home, and they used the church to pray to Allah. And yet, these same people killed my grandmother and removed her heart. They also killed my uncle and removed his tongue. They burned my best friend, his wife, and their five children,” Rev. Dachomo said.
“Why is it that while one side is committed to peace, the other refuses it, particularly from the Islamic perspective? They came to live among us, yet they attacked us mercilessly, leading to the death of my grandmother.”
Rev. Dachomo added that these attacks have continued despite the local Christian community’s commitment to peace. He alleged that some Almajirai, who initially benefitted from Christian hospitality, later participated in attacks against the same communities during periods of crisis.
“They have repeatedly returned to attack our village, yet we have never retaliated by visiting their Ruga area to launch attacks,” he explained.
He further claimed that terrorists have seized lands belonging to Christians, and that reporting such incidents often escalates into further conflicts. Rev. Dachomo called on the Senate Committee on Security to take decisive action and assist displaced Christians in reclaiming their lands. He emphasized that remaining silent is no longer an option and urged acknowledgment of what he described as ongoing genocide in Nigeria.
