The Ghana Police Service’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team has arrested 10 suspects in connection with a viral video showing the physical assault of two young women in Tarkwa.
The disturbing video depicts three of the suspects—Eric Donkor (also known as Killer Block), 32; Yaw Gyimah, 29; and Edmond Nartey, 24—cutting the scalps of the victims with a razor blade.
A fourth suspect, Tawiah (also known as Awaga), who was also seen cutting the scalp of one of the women in the video, is currently on the run.
The remaining suspects arrested for their roles in the assault include Steven Amu, 24; Farouk Balas, 18; Mensah Bernard, 18; Adu Baggeo, 23; Bismark Nyarko, 30; Akwesi Poku George, 18; and Oteng Alfred, 23. They are accused of aiding and abetting the assault.
According to the police, efforts are underway to provide the victims with the necessary support and assistance.
In a separate operation, the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) Special Operations Taskforce last week arrested 19 individuals in the Tamale metropolis for their involvement in illicit drug trafficking.
The operation, which was part of a targeted campaign to dismantle criminal activities in the Northern Regional capital, resulted in the arrest of five alleged drug peddlers, 13 gang members, and one individual who was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition without authorization.
During the crackdown, police seized quantities of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, sachets of substances suspected to be cocaine, a single-barrel firearm, and 13 BB cartridges. They also recovered several motorbikes believed to be stolen, as well as mobile phones and various electronic devices.
“All exhibits have been catalogued and secured,” the police reported, noting that all suspects are currently being held at the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters for further screening, profiling, and investigation.
