The Ghana Police Service has firmly dismissed widespread social media rumours claiming that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has passed away.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, November 30, the Service stated that its attention had been drawn to false reports circulating online about the IGP’s alleged death. It described the claims as entirely untrue and without basis.
According to the statement, Mr. Yohuno is alive, in good health, and actively performing his official duties. The Police Service urged the public, its officers, and the IGP’s family to disregard the fabricated reports.
The Service also cautioned individuals responsible for spreading the misinformation, describing the act as malicious and irresponsible. It further warned that the dissemination of false information constitutes an offense, and anyone found culpable will face legal consequences.
