Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has welcomed the government’s decision to abolish the COVID-19 levy and other taxes introduced under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

In an appearance on *KeyPoints* on TV3 on Saturday, November 29, Kpebu hailed the move as both timely and essential, particularly in light of the growing economic strain faced by ordinary Ghanaians.

He emphasized that the removal of these taxes would provide much-needed relief to citizens burdened by the escalating cost of living. "Across the country, people are voicing concerns about the high cost of living. This is a step in the right direction to ease those pressures," he said, adding that tax cuts can significantly improve household financial stability.

While Kpebu acknowledged that the decision should have been made earlier, he commended the current administration for finally taking action. "The president may not have been able to act on this sooner, but better late than never," he remarked.

Kpebu’s comments reflect widespread public approval of the government’s move, with many citizens viewing it as a positive step toward easing financial hardships in a challenging economic climate.
