Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has confirmed her official relocation to New York City, United States.
Speaking during an interview on Hot 93.7FM’s Buck N Regg Show, the 23-year-old artiste revealed that the move marks a significant new chapter in both her personal life and her career.
“I do live in New York. I moved in officially less than two months ago. I am always in New York regardless,” she stated.
Ayra Starr shared that although she initially had reservations about relocating, a powerful moment on stage helped her realize that New York was the right environment for her growth.
According to her, the city feels familiar and welcoming due to its vibrant African and Nigerian communities.
“New York reminds me so much of Lagos. There are a lot of Nigerians. There is a huge African diaspora here. So it feels like home,” she added.
She described the relocation as a strategic step aimed at expanding her international footprint. The Rush crooner also hinted that living in New York has brought new creative opportunities, including potential collaborations, though she chose not to disclose specific names.
Despite settling abroad, Ayra Starr reassured her fans that Nigeria remains an integral part of her identity and creative journey. She promised to return frequently for music projects and engagements.
