AFCON 2025: TikToker Peller Laments $3,000 Bet Loss After Super Eagles’ Semi-Final Exit

Popular Nigerian TikToker Peller has expressed disappointment after losing a $3,000 bet following Nigeria’s exit from the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Peller had placed the bet on the Super Eagles to defeat Morocco in the semi-final clash. However, the match ended in a goalless draw after regulation time, with Morocco securing victory through a 4–2 penalty shootout to eliminate Nigeria from the tournament.

Reacting in a video shared online, the content creator revealed that he was unaware his bet would be voided after 90 minutes of play and did not account for the possibility of penalties. He openly lamented the loss, describing the outcome as heartbreaking.

Peller also disclosed that he left the venue where he was watching the match while passionately appealing to the Super Eagles to secure a win. His reaction quickly gained attention on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans.

Despite the semi-final defeat, Nigeria had an impressive run in the tournament. The Super Eagles topped Group C with a perfect record, winning all three group-stage matches. They concluded the group phase with a 3–1 victory over Uganda, courtesy of goals from Paul Onuachu and Raphael Onyedika.

Nigeria also advanced past Algeria in the quarter-finals with a 2–0 win, as Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams found the back of the net. Overall, the team won five matches, scored 14 goals, and emerged as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders before their elimination.

Peller’s loss has since sparked conversations online about sports betting risks, especially during high-stakes tournaments such as AFCON 2025.
