An elderly Nigerian woman has made a heartbreaking appeal for help after her only child was reportedly kidnapped by armed bandits in Kogi State, an incident that has sparked widespread concern on social media.
According to a viral video shared on TikTok by user @flodacollection, the abduction occurred on Thursday when the young woman boarded a commercial vehicle in Ido, Kogi State. Shortly after entering the vehicle, all attempts to reach her by phone failed, raising alarm and leading her mother to realise she had been taken by kidnappers.
Visibly distressed, the mother recounted how she became aware of her daughter’s disappearance, explaining that she lost contact with her shortly after she left. In an emotional plea, she begged for public support and intervention to secure her child’s release.
The kidnappers are reportedly demanding a ransom of ₦30 million. In the widely circulated video, the grieving mother appealed to the public, urging them not to allow her to lose her only child and expressing her inability to meet the enormous ransom demand.
The video has since gone viral, drawing reactions from Nigerians who have expressed sympathy, outrage, and renewed calls for stronger security measures. Many netizens have also urged the relevant authorities to act swiftly to rescue the abducted woman and address the growing menace of kidnapping in the region.
