Destiny Boy’s Mother Speaks Out on Late Singer’s Illness and Final Moments

The mother of late Fuji musician Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has broken her silence on the circumstances surrounding her son’s death, addressing public speculation and revealing details that were previously unknown.

In an emotional 10-minute video that has since gone viral on social media, Saidat Adesina recounted Destiny Boy’s prolonged battle with illness, his final days, and the events leading to his passing. Her account comes amid widespread rumours suggesting that certain actions or lifestyle choices may have contributed to the singer’s demise—claims she firmly dismissed.

According to her, Destiny Boy had been battling a long-term medical condition that sometimes caused symptoms similar to epileptic seizures. She explained that the family intentionally kept the illness private to protect his career and public image as a rising star in the music industry.

Mrs Adesina revealed that the health challenge began nearly two years ago, shortly after Destiny Boy welcomed his first child. The condition reportedly surfaced suddenly, leading to several emergency hospital visits and ongoing treatment efforts.

She narrated that the family sought medical attention from multiple hospitals, but when the illness persisted, they also explored alternative options, including traditional and spiritual interventions. Among those who assisted was a traditional healer known as Oba Edun, whose involvement temporarily improved the singer’s condition.

Speaking in her native language, the grieving mother identified the illness as Oku Oru, explaining that during episodes, her son would behave abnormally and often needed to be restrained for his own safety. She stressed that these episodes were misunderstood by the public, as the family chose not to disclose his health struggles.

In her words, Destiny Boy’s condition required constant attention, and despite moments of improvement, it never fully disappeared. The family reportedly visited churches, mosques, herbalists, and traditional healers in search of a permanent cure, but none yielded lasting results.

Mrs Adesina also recounted the heartbreaking events surrounding her son’s death. She said she had tried calling him repeatedly days before his passing but received no response. Later, she was informed that he had collapsed and was taken to Oba Edun’s residence. From there, he was rushed to the hospital after refusing medication, but sadly, he did not survive.

Reflecting on the loss, she described Destiny Boy as a young man full of life who would have turned 23 this year. She appealed to the public to refrain from spreading false narratives and to respect the family’s grief during this difficult time.

Her testimony has since sparked emotional reactions online, with many fans expressing sympathy and calling for compassion, understanding, and respect for the late singer’s legacy.
