A Nigerian woman has shared a disturbing personal experience after she wrongly accused a man she met on Twitter of being a ritualist, only to later discover that she had been misled by her own neighbor and a pastor.
The account, which was shared on social media, has since generated widespread reactions and discussions online.
How It Began
According to her story, the woman met a man on Twitter and they quickly connected. After several conversations, he visited her school apartment. The visit appeared normal, and nothing seemed out of place at the time.
The Missing Sponge
Shortly after the visit, she noticed that her bathing sponge—usually left on the bathroom window—was missing. Confused and alarmed, she tried to recall who could have taken it. The only person she could think of was the man she had just met, as he was the most recent visitor to her apartment.
Her fear grew, especially due to common spiritual beliefs surrounding personal items, and she began to worry that the sponge might have been taken for harmful purposes.
Seeking Spiritual Answers
Driven by fear and uncertainty, the woman sought spiritual guidance from different places, including churches. Her search eventually led her to a pastor, who turned out to be the pastor of her neighbor.
The pastor claimed to have received a vision stating that the man from Twitter had taken the sponge for ritualistic purposes. He also revealed several personal details about her life, which convinced her that his claims were genuine.
Trusting the pastor, she embarked on 21 days of fasting and prayer and even traveled to Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) for deliverance.
The Truth Revealed
The truth eventually surfaced after a disagreement arose between her neighbor and the pastor. It was then revealed that the pastor had fabricated the vision. Her neighbor had been feeding him personal information about her, including details about her visitors.
Even more shocking, she discovered that the sponge had never left her apartment for ritual purposes. Her neighbor had taken it and was using it to wash plates.
Fallout and Regret
Before uncovering the truth, the woman had already confronted the Twitter acquaintance, accusing him of being a ritualist and calling him names. The situation escalated when he came to her house at night to confront her, creating a tense and potentially dangerous scene. She shouted at him, and he eventually left. She never saw him again.
After learning the truth, she attempted to find the man on Twitter and other platforms to apologize for wrongly accusing and humiliating him, but her efforts were unsuccessful.
In her closing message, she expressed deep regret and publicly asked for forgiveness, appealing to social media users to help repost her story in the hope that the man might see it and understand what truly happened.
The incident has since sparked conversations about misinformation, blind trust, and the dangers of false accusations fueled by fear and manipulation.
