Former MP Dismisses Claims Blaming Bawumia for NPP’s 2024 Election Loss

Former Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Hon. Ben Abdallah Banda, has firmly rejected assertions that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was responsible for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, Hon. Banda stated that no official report or credible assessment has attributed the party’s electoral loss to Dr. Bawumia. According to him, claims suggesting otherwise are unfounded and misleading.

“There is no documented report anywhere indicating that the NPP lost the 2024 general election because of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he emphasized.

Hon. Banda described Dr. Bawumia as a key pillar of the party, highlighting his long-standing commitment and significant contributions to the NPP’s development and governance over the years.

“Dr. Bawumia remains a strong and influential member of our party. He has played a critical role in the NPP’s progress,” he noted.

The former legislator also addressed allegations of irregularities in the party’s internal electoral processes, dismissing them as baseless. He maintained that the NPP conducts its internal elections with transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to established rules.

“At no point have we imposed candidates on our members, nor have we engaged in vote manipulation. Our electoral processes are credible and fair,” he stated.

He further explained that the party’s guidelines ensure equal participation for all aspirants, including the right to appoint polling agents and the guarantee of a free and fair voting environment.

Hon. Banda expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and dedication, stressing that his commitment to the party would ultimately yield positive outcomes.

“Dr. Bawumia has invested enormous effort into the party, and in time, that hard work will certainly be rewarded,” he concluded.
