University Student Reclaims ₦5,000 From Alleged Scam Two Years Later

A Nigerian university student has successfully recovered ₦5,000 from an elderly man who allegedly scammed her during her early days at school, after encountering him again two years later.

According to reports, the incident first occurred when the student was newly admitted into the university and unfamiliar with common scams in the area. The man reportedly deceived her into giving him ₦5,000 under false pretences.

Two years later, the matter resurfaced when the same individual approached her again, allegedly attempting to use the same tactic. This time, however, the student immediately recognised him and confronted him on the spot.

Eyewitnesses say the confrontation led to the man returning the ₦5,000 without resistance. The encounter was recorded on video and later shared online, where it quickly gained attention and sparked widespread discussion.

Recounting the experience, the student explained that she instantly remembered the man and his method. She stated that upon confronting him, he refunded the money immediately, avoiding further dispute.

The viral video has generated mixed reactions on social media. While some users applauded the student for her confidence and persistence, others criticised the decision not to involve authorities, arguing that the man may continue targeting unsuspecting victims.

Overall, the incident has reignited conversations around personal vigilance, accountability, and the importance of reporting fraudulent activities to deter repeat offences.
