A Ghanaian religious leader, Prophet Daniel Kusi, has ignited widespread debate following comments he made regarding poverty and salvation.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Ewiase Mu Abrabo television programme hosted by Kofi Gyimah, Prophet Kusi asserted that poor people will not gain entry into heaven. According to him, the widely held belief that righteous individuals will go to heaven regardless of their economic status is a misconception.
During the interview, the prophet argued that although heaven is reserved for the righteous, poverty itself disqualifies an individual from attaining eternal life. He dismissed the notion of “righteous poor people” entering heaven, describing it as false and misleading.
Prophet Kusi further explained that, in his view, poverty is a sign of a curse from God. He maintained that since cursed individuals allegedly have no place in heaven, poor people, by extension, cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
His remarks have since generated strong reactions, with many questioning the theological basis of his claims and expressing concern over the implications of such teachings on vulnerable members of society.
