Ghanaian musician Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, widely known as Mzbel, has shared a deeply emotional account of a secret romantic relationship that ended abruptly just two weeks after a couples’ vacation.
In an exclusive interview with broadcaster Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the award-winning singer recounted how the unexpected breakup left her devastated and nearly resulted in a tragic accident. According to Mzbel, her partner ended the relationship without warning shortly after they returned from a romantic getaway, leaving her completely unprepared for the separation.
She revealed that she was driving home when she received the call that changed everything. Her partner reportedly told her that she did not “fit into his world” and suggested they remain friends. Initially, she thought he was joking, as there had been no prior conflict between them.
“We had just gone on a couple’s holiday and returned, and two weeks later he said this,” she explained. “At first, I laughed and asked if he was serious.”
However, the reality of the situation soon set in. Overwhelmed by shock and emotional pain, Mzbel said she broke down in tears while driving and almost lost control of her vehicle. She described the moment as one of the most frightening experiences of her life.
Reflecting on how she now manages emotional pain, the outspoken singer shared her belief in internalising and redirecting negative energy rather than reacting physically. She explained that emotional hurt, if not properly managed, can be just as damaging as physical confrontation, adding that many people unconsciously channel such energy in harmful ways.
