Veteran Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has publicly addressed and dismissed rumours of his death that circulated widely on social media on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
The false reports originated from a viral TikTok post in which a netizen alleged that the actor had died at a medical facility following an accident on the Wassa–Akropong road. The claim quickly caused panic among Ghanaians, with many taking to social media to verify the actor’s condition.
In response, Kwaku Manu released a video on his official TikTok page the same day to reassure fans and loved ones. He explained that he began receiving numerous phone calls from concerned relatives and friends shortly after the rumour spread.
According to the actor, he was asleep when the misinformation was shared online. He clarified that he was in good health and had only been out in town attending to errands related to his perfume business in Accra.
“I woke up to many missed calls this morning, and that is why I decided to record this video for my loved ones,” he said. “Someone posted that I had died at a hospital on the Wassa–Akropong road. I was asleep when that news was shared. Today is Wednesday, the day I was born, and I was only moving around with my perfumes.”
Kwaku Manu strongly condemned the individual behind the hoax, warning them to stop spreading false information about him for online engagement. He described the act as irresponsible and accused the person of deliberately attempting to cause fear and panic for personal gain.
He further expressed anger at the level of detail used in the post, including his name, location, and photograph, stressing that such actions show a disregard for human life and the emotional well-being of others.
The actor’s firm response has drawn widespread support on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing relief and offering prayers and well wishes. Several commenters encouraged him to ignore the negativity and assured him of long life and divine protection.
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns about misinformation on social media and its potential to cause unnecessary distress to individuals and their families.
