Atoine Semenyo has spoken publicly following his standout performance in Bournemouth’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, where he faced off against fellow Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus.
Dubbed the "Battle of Ghana", both stars featured prominently in Saturday’s Premier League clash in North London. Semenyo, starting for the Cherries, delivered a dynamic display that saw him match Kudus for the most completed dribbles, showcasing his pace, power, and precise ball control.
Semenyo Dominates the Flank
The 25-year-old forward gave Tottenham’s right-back Pedro Porro a torrid afternoon, constantly beating him down the wing and keeping the Spurs defence on edge. His explosive runs and physical presence added another layer to Bournemouth’s attacking threat, with many fans online praising him as the standout player of the match.
Semenyo also impressed with his hold-up play and intelligent link-ups in the final third, contributing heavily to Bournemouth’s overall control of the game.
Semenyo Speaks After the Win
Speaking to BBC's Match of the Day, Semenyo expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance but admitted he was hungry for more.
“We had our chances. Overall, we played really well and made it uncomfortable for them,” he said.
“I was frustrated and it was playing on my mind a bit. I need to get myself in those positions to get more chances. I kept focus and got my head in the game.”
He also took a moment to applaud new teammate Adrien Truffert:
“We have a good understanding. We've been training since the start of pre-season. The boy can run!” he said, laughing.
A Statement Win for Bournemouth
The victory marked back-to-back Premier League wins for Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth, following their recent triumph over Brentford.
According to Sports Mole, Tottenham introduced their £51.8 million signing Xavi Simons before kickoff, but the energy quickly faded after Evanilson opened the scoring just five minutes in.
Despite some second-half pressure, Tottenham failed to find the equaliser, with Bournemouth maintaining their composure to seal the win. Spurs managed only one shot on target — a long-range attempt by Lucas Bergvall in the 68th minute.
Kudus Breaks Silence After Loss
YEN.com.gh also reported that Mohammed Kudus reflected on his quiet performance and Tottenham’s missed opportunity to top the league. The former West Ham star had been in fine form before the match but struggled to influence proceedings against an organized Bournemouth side.
