The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) is set to highlight the crucial role of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) at the upcoming 2025 This Is Ghana Exhibition, with a special focus on businesses led by women and young entrepreneurs.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, GEA’s Deputy CEO for Operations, Iddrisu Dambanyebo Mahmoud, emphasized the economic significance of MSMEs, which make up about 90% of Ghana’s businesses and contribute approximately 70% of the country’s GDP.
“MSMEs form the backbone of our economy. Developing them is key to Ghana’s growth,” he stated.
As part of its participation, GEA will feature at least 25 enterprises, predominantly run by women and youth. The agency will also use the event to engage with informal businesses and encourage their registration and formalization.
Habiba Sumani, Director of the MSME Development Directorate at GEA, assured that all participating businesses have fulfilled local and international regulatory requirements:
“Every product showcased meets the necessary standards. We invite the public to come and see for themselves,” she said.
