Cristiano Ronaldo has made football history once again by becoming the first player to score 100 competitive goals for four different clubs. Despite this remarkable achievement, his team, Al Nassr, suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Al-Ahli in the Saudi Super Cup final.
The milestone goal came during the match held at Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday, where the 40-year-old forward scored from the penalty spot in the 41st minute, bringing his tally for Al Nassr to 100 goals since joining the Saudi club in December 2022.
Ronaldo now boasts 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, and 100 for Al Nassr—surpassing the previous benchmark of 100 goals for three different clubs, achieved by Isidro Langara, Romario, and Neymar.
In addition to this club-level achievement, Ronaldo remains the all-time leading international goal scorer with 138 goals for Portugal. However, he continues to pursue his first major trophy with Al Nassr.
The thrilling final ended 2-2 in regulation time. Ronaldo’s penalty gave Al Nassr an early lead, but Al-Ahli responded swiftly through Franck Kessie. Marcelo Brozovic restored Al Nassr’s advantage with seven minutes remaining, only for Brazilian defender Ibanez to level the score again, forcing a penalty shootout.
Ronaldo successfully converted his spot-kick during the shootout, but teammate Abdullah Al-Khaibari missed his attempt, handing Al-Ahli a 5-3 victory and the first silverware of the Saudi Arabian football season.
Al-Ahli’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy lifted the trophy alongside teammates, including Franck Kessie, in a jubilant celebration of their hard-fought win.
Despite the defeat, Ronaldo's record-setting performance continues to cement his legacy as one of football’s all-time greats.
