Ghanaian media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has publicly criticized dancehall artist Shatta Wale for his perceived hypocrisy regarding education, following his recent invitation by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
Taking to her social media platforms on the morning of August 28, 2025, Yaa Yeboah expressed her dismay at how some celebrities openly belittle the value of formal education—only to rely on it when faced with legal challenges.
She highlighted how certain Ghanaian musicians often use public platforms to undermine the importance of schooling, portraying it as unnecessary or irrelevant. However, when they encounter trouble, they quickly turn to the very institutions and professionals they once mocked.
Citing Shatta Wale’s case, Yaa Yeboah noted that despite the artist’s history of downplaying the significance of education, he deferred to legal representation when summoned by EOCO—an action that, in her view, contradicts his earlier sentiments.
“Funny how some of your favorite artists stand on stage and dismiss the importance of education, acting like school doesn’t matter. Yet, the moment EOCO picked you up, the first thing you said was, ‘I’m waiting for my lawyer before I speak,’” she wrote.
She went further to emphasize the irony in relying on educated professionals—such as lawyers—when in distress. “That lawyer you're depending on? He went to school, studied hard, and earned a certificate. The same education you discredit is now your shield,” she added.
MC Yaa Yeboah’s comments have sparked renewed conversation online about the role of education in the entertainment industry and the responsibility public figures have in shaping societal values.
