Accra, August 22, 2025 — Accra Hearts of Oak has responded to the recent transfer ban imposed by FIFA, which penalizes the club for failing to settle financial dues owed to former Technical Director, Rene Hiddink.
In an official communication dated August 21, 2025, FIFA’s Legal and Compliance Division confirmed that Hearts of Oak is prohibited from registering new players—both within Ghana and internationally—for the next three transfer windows. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been instructed to enforce the ban.
Responding to the decision, the club issued a public statement on August 22, saying:
“FIFA has confirmed a registration ban on the club due to unresolved financial obligations. We recognize the seriousness of the situation and want to reassure our supporters that Management and the Board are actively working with all relevant parties, including the GFA and FIFA, to resolve the issue as quickly and responsibly as possible.”
The club also clarified that all player registrations for the ongoing season had already been completed prior to the ban taking effect. As a result, the current squad remains unaffected in the short term.
Hearts of Oak concluded by urging supporters to remain calm and supportive, reaffirming their commitment to resolving the matter professionally and without delay.
