President Mahama Positions Ghana as Gateway to Africa’s Booming Investment Landscape

President John Dramani Mahama has called on global investors to tap into Africa’s vast economic potential, describing the continent as “the world’s most dynamic emerging market” and positioning Ghana as the most dependable gateway for doing business in Africa.

He made the appeal during his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 8th Africa-Singapore Business Forum held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

President Mahama emphasized that Africa presents a compelling opportunity for businesses and investors, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, technology, and trade.

“I speak today as an African leader and as President of Ghana. Our message is simple: Africa is investable, and Ghana is your reliable gateway to the continent. The continent is the world’s most dynamic emerging market,” he stated.

Highlighting the continent’s growth trajectory, President Mahama noted that Africa is home to 1.4 billion people, most of whom are young, increasingly urbanized, and digitally connected. He projected that by 2030, over 700 million consumers will reside in African cities, creating a robust market for goods and services.

He also underscored the transformative impact of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which he described as the largest new free trade zone in the world by the number of participating countries. The AfCFTA, he said, unlocks a $3.4 trillion market and significantly lowers barriers across supply chains.

“Africa holds vast renewable energy potential and is already a global leader in mobile money and fintech adoption. This is a market ready for scaled solutions. Yet, this opportunity must be matched with capital at the right price and with the right instruments,” he stressed.

President Mahama concluded by reaffirming Ghana’s readiness to serve as a stable, strategic, and investor-friendly hub for businesses looking to enter or expand across Africa.

“Ghana offers political stability, economic resilience, and a welcoming business environment—making it the ideal launchpad into Africa’s future,” he added.

Ken Ofori-Atta Files Legal Action Against Special Prosecutor Over 'Wanted Person' Label

Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has taken legal action against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), seeking an injunction to prevent the agency from continuing to label him as a “wanted person” or “fugitive from justice.” This legal move comes after Ofori-Atta's image and personal details were publicly displayed on the OSP's official social media pages, despite earlier assurances made in a letter dated February 18, 2025. In a motion filed by his legal team, Ofori-Atta argues that the OSP's actions violate the principles of administrative justice, specifically the right to a fair process and the protection of his personal dignity. Additionally, Ofori-Atta seeks an interlocutory injunction to stop the OSP from issuing any further press releases or public statements that ...
