The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results of candidates who participated in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, August 23, 2025, WAEC announced that a total of 177 candidates had their entire results cancelled, while 718 others lost specific subject results due to confirmed cases of examination malpractice.
Additionally, 93 candidates had all their results withheld, and 1,240 candidates had certain subject results withheld pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
WAEC further disclosed that subject results from candidates in 119 schools have been cancelled, and results from 87 other schools remain under investigation. Final decisions on the withheld results are expected to be announced by September 6, 2025.
The Council indicated that results for schools will be dispatched through the respective Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education. Individual candidates may also access their results online via WAEC’s official website: www.waecgh.org.
This year’s examination saw the participation of 603,328 candidates from 20,395 schools, including candidates with special needs, across 2,237 examination centres nationwide. A total of 2,526 candidates were absent from the examination.
WAEC has urged the public to disregard fraudsters who claim they can alter results, reiterating that all results are secure and verifiable through official channels.
