Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially debunked circulating reports suggesting that popular comedian and educator, Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated into the teaching service.
In a press statement issued by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the Service categorically denied the reports and urged the public to disregard them.
“The report is false. Mr. Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo, has not been reinstated,” the statement clarified.
Teacher Kwadwo was dismissed from the GES in 2021 following allegations of misconduct, which included absenteeism and gross insubordination. His dismissal sparked a wave of public backlash, with many of his supporters criticizing GES for what they viewed as an unfair and targeted action against the outspoken teacher.
Despite firmly denying his reinstatement, GES acknowledged that there is a formal channel available for redress. The Service invited Teacher Kwadwo to submit a formal petition if he believes his dismissal was unjust and wishes to challenge the decision.
The GES also cautioned the public and media outlets to rely solely on official communications from its office for accurate and verified information regarding personnel and institutional matters.
The false reinstatement news had gone viral on social media, prompting widespread excitement among fans of Teacher Kwadwo, many of whom have long expressed hope for his return to the classroom
